SURPRISE! I Found An Album!
Wayfinding – Out now on Bandcamp and out soon on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Amazon Music
So I went ahead and did a thing:
As it happens, today is my birthday, and I’ve been thinking about giving myself this present for a while. And by giving myself a present, I’m really thinking of the Middle Earth thing where you give other people presents on your own birthday.
Back in about 2015, some time before I started recording music under my own name, I put together a collection (Time + Motion) under the band name Steeling Time. I did everything myself: writing, performing, singing, mixing, engineering, and mastering. While to my ears the album definitely reflects that I was learning as I went, I am proud of how it came out.
Then, as you probably know, in 2021 I put out Alone in a Crowded Place. My songwriting had evolved considerably in the years since Time + Motion, and this finished album benefited from Terrance Reeves’ mixing and collaboration, John MacArthur’s coaching, Bob St. John’s mastering, and Micayla Gilligan’s photography, not to mention the encouragement of my new-found musical community.
In between, however, there was a whole collection of songs that I wrote and recorded. In some cases I’ve even performed these songs regularly as part of my live act. I called the collection Wayfinding and made it available on SoundCloud, but I never formally released it.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve cleaned some of these songs up, mastered them, and brought them together both on Bandcamp and on all of the major streaming platforms, and I am now ready to share all of this with you.
So, while we all wait for Tales Told Out of School to be ready – sometime this spring – please enjoy this little snapshot of the past. And please know that any revenue that comes from this (or from your support or Patreon membership) helps the new Tales to be Told!
Thank you as always, and very Happy Holidays!!!
