What’s Down The Road? No One Knows

Every so often I have a little bit of a writer’s drought. Sometimes it’s because I’m just out of ideas, sometimes I’m tired, and sometimes I just have too many other things fighting for my attention. I’ve had a little of all three over the past few months, and I guess that’s not uncommon. A lot of the people I know are just exhausted.

However, I’ve had a few new songs all of a sudden just show up. Just there at my fingertips and in my voice.

The first I want to share with you is a song I have tentatively titled “Long Road.”  My thought here was twofold. First, this song is a way to think through the concepts of coming out from this pandemic and starting to reconnect with the world. Big picture, reforming relationships all over again. Playing music in front of people. All of that.

The other aspect of it is a very tangible concept: getting in the car and heading back down to New York and New Jersey to see family and friends for the first time in person in about a year. I don’t know how many people have put off these re-connections in the name of safety, but I know I’m not the only one, and I am so looking forward to that first, long, incredibly awkward hug.

I will keep sharing these new pieces with you as they come out of my mind and my heart, but for now I want to share this quick little clip with you so you can see and hear a little bit of what this newborn song feels like.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below. I hope you enjoy.
