One of Us!
Boy, time certainly does fly! I looked at the calendar here on the website and realized it’s been a full two months since I last posted. I guess that’s just a little bit of an indication of how busy things have been.
I finished up the summer with another porchfest in Belmont, as well as a showcase show in Worcester. I also appeared on Open Mic America again, and I’ve just had a live radio interview!
On that last point, a huge thank you to David Bowers and his partner Jon Bonjovial for having me on. Even though it has already been broadcast, you’ll be able to listen to it here.
One of the things that has become very apparent to me over the past couple of months is how much I’ve been able to make really good connections and friends amongst the singer-songwriter community here in Massachusetts and elsewhere. David’s radio interview is an example of that, as I was referred by Linda Marks.
However, it also means that I get a chance to step in and play a part in supporting other artists as well.
What do I mean? Well, for example – Glen Gardner, who was instrumental in the rock music scene in Massachusetts in the 70s and 80s, then went out to Arizona to become an institution of the singer-songwriter community there. He’s coming back to Boston next week, and some of us in the singer-songwriter community here are putting together a showcase at Aaron Tornberg‘s One Broadway Collaborative to give him a chance to show his stuff locally here again.
You can find out more about the show here, and sign up for tickets to see the show either in person or online.
As one more example, I have now joined the Open Mic America hosting staff, and will have my first stint as emcee on December 1. I hope you’ll join me as I welcome a tremendous collection of great artists either trying new things, or celebrating their own history. It’s a fantastic couple of hours, and really worth your time!
There’s more great stuff coming up, and I will keep you posted. Songwriting is continuing, but it’s taking a little backseat to performing these past few months. Nonetheless, I think you’ll like what’s coming!
