Long Time, No Talk
Oh, hey! How are you doing?
Seems like it’s been a few months since we last spoke. Hope you’re all very well. On our side, been a little busy. Sorry about that.
Maybe not sorry per se, but probably should have kept you all in a little bit more touch.
While a little side project – Newton family singers – took a little bit of our live performance time away, progress on the new album continues. This was interrupted for a little while by the fact that our old studio computer died, and we had to replace that and then reconstruct the virtual studio.
For those of you who don’t know our recording set up, we use PreSonus Studio One 3.0. And in the interest of trying to keep everything as “pure” as possible we stay away from pitch correction and other studio tricks as much as possible.
(Which – as it turns out – is probably good, as we can’t get the pitch correction to work on the new computer.)
Everything is now back, up, and back to normal…
In fact, since the last time we spoke, there have been a few new songs hitting the website. If you haven’t already, please check out the following:
Not Sleeping – The last track done on the old studio platform. A good dynamic rocker that shows our influences from old ’70’s hard rock.
April Pettimore – Started out being a very simple acoustic test to figure out the new recording studio, but ended up being something worth saving and polishing up. A little out of the ordinary for our stuff, but really hope you enjoy.
Breath – A nice heavy statement both on writing music, and just done being heard by the people around you. Absolutely want to turn this up loud.
Not That Bright – A phrase that has been banging around in my head for a while, and one day it matched itself up with a very, very simple chord progression to result in this. Not exactly our deepest song, but a hell of a lot of fun to play!
There are at least two more songs in the works as well – Damaged Goods being the next up – meaning that basic recording for album number two is just about done. This one has a much stronger statement of our own voice and sound. As a result, instead of making it a tribute to the Cats Cradle in Chapel Hill, we’re going to call it “Finding My Way” to recognize that discovery.
The next steps will be to go back to all of the songs see if there’s anything else that we want to clean up, or redo, and then go through the mixing and mastering process. We’ve already started art design, and should be ready to produce CD’s in the next few months. Please make sure the follow us on Facebook and Twitter so you can be aware of the news as it comes.
This one has been really fun, and incredibly meaningful for us. We can’t wait to share it with you!
